An Evening with The Black Feathers 6 On The Square 6 Lafayette Park Oxford View Map The Black Feathers are returning to 6OTS after postponements from the 2020-21 seasons. The ability to write songs that are both modern and ancient is a rare thing. The Black Feathers, made up of Ray Hughes and Sian Chandler, are two such talents, a husband-wife duo who weave in traditional influences so thoroughly that they become the warp and weft of fresh creations. Americana, Folk, and Acoustic Indie Rock sensibilities coexist comfortably in their musical world, with Hughes’ guitar work buoying the kind of harmonies often only heard in family bands. Their music quickly draws the interest of listeners, but it is the stage chemistry that will keep them listening.

Navigating heartfelt, soul crushers, and full out, "kick your shoes off and have a hootenanny" dance jams, this band is like a box of chocolates, Forrest. Originally formed in 2014, the LBEs have nested with a current rotating cast of: mainstays Tom Westcott , Mike Melnyk and Steve Simmons ( all 3 from Ultravibe, Badweather Blues), with Jeff Howard (Honker, Raibred), Cooper Casterline (Kevin Kinsella, Randy McStine Trio), John Jones (Chris Eves, The Hook) and Rock and Roll HOF drummer Bobby Tousignant (Music Explosion, Nate Gross Band) backing. At the end of 2018, the LBEs debut album "Find Yourself->Caterpillar" was released to much praise from the upstate community, gaining a 2019 Syracuse-Area Music Award nomination for best jam album. Currently Davis is writing an all-new concept-EP slated for a summer release with the band.

Oxford
6 On The Square
An Evening with Scott Cook and Pamela Mae 6 On The Square 6 Lafayette Park Oxford View Map In 2007, Albertan songwriter Scott Cook quit his job teaching kindergarten in Taiwan and moved into a minivan, making his living as a troubadour ever since. His touring is almost incessantly across Canada, the US, Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and elsewhere, averaging 150 shows and a dozen summer festivals a year, and releasing seven albums of plainspoken, keenly observant verse along the way. His latest album spent two weeks at #1 on Alberta's province-wide community radio network CKUA, and earned Scott his third Canadian Folk Music Award nomination, for English Songwriter of the Year. Its second single "Say Can You See" was the second most-played song of 2020 on Folk Alliance International's folk radio charts, and took top honors for the folk category in both the 2020 UK Songwriting Competition and the 2020 Great American Song Contest. In 2022 he's touring the album all over North America, believing more than ever that songs can change your life, and your life can change the world.

Big Little Lions
Oxford
6 On The Square
Big Little Lions 6 On The Square 6 Lafayette Park Oxford View Map Big Little Lions are an award winning duo who were born out of a collaboration that won them a JUNO Award in 2014. Since then they have been cranking out infectious folk pop songs that are jam-packed with emotion and tight harmonies that sound like the product of two people working side-by-side instead of living in different countries. The duo consists of Paul Otten and Helen Austin, both hugely prolific songwriters - their music has been placed in hundreds of movie trailers, ads, network TV shows. Their live show is quite the spectacle with Paul playing drums, bass and keyboard all while singing lead vocals. Helen, who is no slacker either, sings, plays guitar, and foot percussion. They use every limb, and then some, to make two people sound like a full band. Their music has been dubbed by Mariposa Folk Festival as ‘a blissful marriage of new folk and sophisticated pop’, and is packed with emotion and tight harmonies.

Adeem the Artist

Roxbury Arts Group and Headwaters Arts Center
Adeem the Artist Roxbury Arts Group and Headwaters Arts Center 5025 Vega Mountain Road, PO Box 93 Roxbury View Map A seventh-generation Carolinian, a singer-songwriter, storyteller, makeshift poet, and blue-collar artist, Adeem began toiling at their instrument in 2002 and used songwriting as a vehicle to process culture shock, their faith, and later their journey through apostasy. Blending a homegrown affection for Country Music with the emotional ballyhoo of alternative folk in the early aughts, they have created a unique brand of Americana that pays homage to John Prine and John Darnielle (of The Mountain Goats) in equal parts. On 'Cast-Iron Pansexual,' they weave a rich tapestry of words with humor and wit; exploring identity across coalescing subcultures. Traveling to Carolina to get their Tarot read while straddling the duality of being a “blue collar boy” who is a “complicated dame,” Adeem excavates unwonted stories of the forgotten south. “Cast Iron Pansexual lives up to its title with explorations of sexuality and gender expression that are equally clever and poignant.” – Rolling Stone “[Adeem] writes about the questions in a pensive Americana style. [Their] songs will both comfort you and challenge you.” – American Songwriter

Greg Greenway 6 On The Square 6 Lafayette Park Oxford View Map Out of the Boston Folk music scene, singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Greg Greenway has played Carnegie Hall, been heard on NPR's All Things Considered, Mountain Stage, and Car Talk. A founding member of Brother Sun, he is now one half of Deeper Than The Skin along with Reggie Harris. Musically, his guitar, piano, ukulele, and melodica reflect inspiration from all over the map–gospel, rock, blues, Jazz, and world music. But his center is in the singer/songwriter tradition that traces it roots all the way back to the social awareness of Woody Guthrie. His central appeal is that it all comes through the singular lens of Greenway’s own humanity and affinity for the audience. He has legendary energy, the wellspring of a presentation of high spirited give and take of such good humor that audiences unfailingly walk away uplifted.

Full of timeless heart, acoustic songwriters Sam Clark and Yasmine Shelton will take you through city streets in the hours before the world has woken, or to a corrugated steel home north of the treeline. With comparisons to The Milk Carton Kids, Hozier, and Bon Iver, their inventiveness shines on fiddle and intricate harmonies, with Shelton and Clark’s voices wrapping around each other like twin flames in a warm fire. Family is what ties The Pairs together. With soaring harmonies, they share stories of life’s hope, hilarity, and hardship. An honest, quirky stage presence and their unbottled chemistry, quickly connects them with their audience.
