Fenimore Art Museum
Food for Thought: Unmasking Venice (Fenimore Art Museum) Fenimore Art Museum 5798 New York 80,Cooperstown,13326,US Cooperstown View Map Join Assistant Curators Julia Madore and Ann Cannon for a boxed lunch and a guided tour of the special exhibition, Unmasking Venice: American Artists and the City of Water. Unmasking Venice: American Artists and the City of Water features paintings, etchings and 3-dimensional objects that explore the two Venetian worlds depicted by American artists during the late 19th, early 20th and 21st centuries. The “picturesque” demonstrates the attraction to Venice felt by American tourists, while the “realistic” depicts the grittier realism of an everyday Venetian’s life. The exhibition includes work by a diverse group of artists, including Jane Peterson and Fred Wilson, and draws some interesting Venetian connections to the Thaw Collection of American Indian Art through the glass industry. A catalog will accompany the exhibition. Sponsored in part by The Clark Foundation, Nellie and Robert Gipson, and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas O. Putnam. This is one in a series of American art exhibitions created through a multi-year, multi-institutional partnership formed by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, as part of the Art Bridges Initiative. Currently, the museum requires proof of vaccination and masking to attend this program. However, due to the ever-evolving nature of the COVID-19 situation, protocol may be changed in the future. Please come prepared with proof of vaccination and a mask in the event that they are required. We thank you for understanding and helping us keep our visitors and staff safe. Romeo & Juliet - A Glimmer Globe Theatre Production LIVE in Cooperstown Fenimore Art Museum 5798 State Hwy 80 Cooperstown View Map At long last, Shakespeare's immortal tragic romance comes to Fenimore's Lucy B. Hamilton Amphitheater! Fenimore Art Museum’s Glimmer Globe Theatre is proud to present William Shakespeare’s tragedy Romeo & Juliet on Wednesdays and Thursdays July 6 – August 11! Set in 1960s Brighton, England amidst the violent clash between the “Mods” and the “Rockers,” two star-crossed lovers find themselves caught in a storm of hate. The production is directed by Michael Henrici and stars Michael and Danielle Henrici, Peter Exton, Mary Fralick, Sharon Rankins-Burd, Carolyn Chryst, Nadel Henville, Tom Russo, Andrew Munro, Wriley Nelson, Cait Liberati, Mark Murphy, Grace Ruganis, Bonnie Gibb, and Loial Davis Fralick. Performances will be held in the Fenimore’s stunning lakeside Lucy B. Oracle Circle with Story Ducey Darling Hill Farm Call Story for directions Westford View Map All are Welcome! This Circle is called an Oracle Circle because we will be focusing first, on deep meditation for healing and renewal for ourselves as we attempt to reenter the world together. Then, we will be seeking guidance, teachings and home work from Spirit together for all of us and our families as we move through this transition. This is experimental work with Spirit. We allow Spirit to direct us and present the teachings they want us to focus on. We will record the messaging and seek the overall message as confirmed by the majority of the messaging. The overall goal is to dissolve challenging personal and communal karma while we seek strength and guidance in creating a new chapter for ourselves as individuals and for our world. Story connects Scientific Research into consciousness studies, and the human energy field, until we understand how our bodies are wired for telepathy and intuition. After-Hours Gallery Tours with Victoria Wyeth (Fenimore Art Museum) Fenimore Art Museum 5798 New York 80,Cooperstown,13326,US Cooperstown View Map Join Victoria Wyeth on a special tour of her family's drawings and figure studies! Victoria Wyeth, Andrew Wyeth’s granddaughter, offers an energetic and fascinating insider’s look at her family’s life and legacy as she tours guests through Fenimore Art Museum’s exhibition, Drawn from Life: Three Generations of Wyeth Figure Studies. The Wyeths honed their expertise through rigorous academic exercises conducted both in the studio and in some cases, the morgue. Drawn from Life: Three Generations of Wyeth Figure Studies focuses on N.C., Andrew, and Jamie Wyeth’s figurative studio and academic studies and provides a snapshot of young artists mastering the figure. With text by Victoria Wyeth and contributions by her uncle Jamie, the exhibition features many works never-before displayed—Jamie’s anatomical sketches and figure studies, Andrew’s early studio sketches and later painting studies, and N.C.’s academic and studio sketches. Work by Carolyn Wyeth, who was trained by her father N.C. and instructed her nephew Jamie Wyeth, round out the exhibition. Guest curator Victoria Wyeth provides a family perspective on the work, informed by interviews with her uncle Jamie Wyeth and father Nicholas Wyeth. What is it like to grow-up in a family of artists, who do you learn from, and how to create your own approach to the figure and to art are all explored. Proof of vaccination or masking will be required to attend this program. We thank you for your understanding and for helping us protect our guests and staff. Exhibit sponsored in part by The Clark Foundation, The Tom Morgan and Erna J. McReynolds Charitable Foundation, and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas O. Putnam. This project is supported by a Market New York grant awarded to Fenimore Art Museum from I LOVE NY/New York State’s Division of Tourism as part of the Regional Economic Development Council initiative. Evening Food for Thought with Victoria Wyeth: Andrew Wyeth's Portraits Fenimore Art Museum 5798 State Hwy 80 Cooperstown View Map Join Victoria Wyeth for special dinner and a discussion of Andrew Wyeth's portraits. Join Victoria Wyeth, Andrew Wyeth’s granddaughter, for a delicious dinner buffet and fascinating PowerPoint presentation related to the exhibition, Drawn from Life: Three Generations of Wyeth Figure Studies . The third of four presentations, Victoria Wyeth will focus on Andrew Wyeth's portraits. These include The Helga Pictures, as well as paintings featuring Christina Olson and Andrew Wyeth's own wife, Betsy. While the subjects discussed relate to the exhibition, Victoria Wyeth will go beyond to explore Andrew Wyeth's personal and professional life. The town of Stamford, NY will be filled with music end to end along Main Street (Rte. 23). Since 2007, Porchfests have been hosted by communities all over North America. The event brings local musicians and neighbors together for a day of musical celebration and community. Porchfest is a great festival of town spirit and camaraderie, as friends, neighbors and strangers meet, greet and share local showcase performances. There are no tickets, no reserved seating – just folks strolling and congregating on lawns to hear great music! The Flowers Workshop Roxbury Arts Group and Headwaters Arts Center 66 Main Street Stamford View Map The Flowers Workshop, being offered in partnership with Studio Friend and The Art of Everyone, is a one-week writing and book arts retreat, facilitated by Amy Robinson in August 2022. The coursework will draw inspiration from multiple disciplines and genres, from painting to indigenous beadwork to poetry, but the primary mode of writing will be creative nonfiction. The theme will be healing and regrowth, as we reckon creatively with the personal and collective traumas of the pandemic, with an eye toward remaking ourselves and our world for a more sustainable future. Deep attention to landscape and the natural world, with as much time as possible to be spent outdoors, will nurture our work together and give us raw materials (sometimes literally) with which to create. Over the course of the week, we will write and share our writing, plus make seeded paper, create hand-bound editions of our work, and plant our listening notes from our workshop into the Earth as a symbol of faith in what one another’s words can become.

Adeem the Artist
Roxbury
Roxbury Arts Group and Headwaters Arts Center
Adeem the Artist Roxbury Arts Group and Headwaters Arts Center 5025 Vega Mountain Road, PO Box 93 Roxbury View Map A seventh-generation Carolinian, a singer-songwriter, storyteller, makeshift poet, and blue-collar artist, Adeem began toiling at their instrument in 2002 and used songwriting as a vehicle to process culture shock, their faith, and later their journey through apostasy. Blending a homegrown affection for Country Music with the emotional ballyhoo of alternative folk in the early aughts, they have created a unique brand of Americana that pays homage to John Prine and John Darnielle (of The Mountain Goats) in equal parts. On 'Cast-Iron Pansexual,' they weave a rich tapestry of words with humor and wit; exploring identity across coalescing subcultures. Traveling to Carolina to get their Tarot read while straddling the duality of being a “blue collar boy” who is a “complicated dame,” Adeem excavates unwonted stories of the forgotten south. “Cast Iron Pansexual lives up to its title with explorations of sexuality and gender expression that are equally clever and poignant.” – Rolling Stone “[Adeem] writes about the questions in a pensive Americana style. [Their] songs will both comfort you and challenge you.” – American Songwriter
